Belize Diving Services
Training for Cave and Advanced Cave Diving
Complete Cave Diving Training
Belize Diving Services offers training to dive in overhead environments, based on the TDI Diving in Overhead Environments ELearning Course. This course is divided into three separate levels: cavern, intro to cave and full cave. The course develops skills and knowledge for each level. The objective is to train divers in the proper planning, procedures, techniques and hazards of diving in underwater caverns and caves. We emphasize the use of rebreather and sidemount gear.
Extraordinary Cave Diving Opportunities
Caye Caulker, Belize, offers extraordinary cave diving opportunities that are more challenging than many cave dives. Most of our dives are for experienced cave divers only and are best done with rebreather and sidemount gear. Belize Diving Services is just 15 minutes by boat from Winter Wonderland and Giant Cave — two incredible cave diving destinations.
Winter Wonderland. Winter Wonderland offers divers two sections of cave to explore. The Rabbit Hole line is a great dive, suitable for both new and experienced cave divers, with a maximum depth of about 40 metres (130 ft.) and gorgeous speleothems.
The Queen of Hearts line is a more significant portion of cave that was pioneered in the 1990s and recently extended to 762 metres (2,500 ft.). This tunnel is for sidemount divers only as a fine silty breakdown guards the entrance as well as some tight squeezes that would be difficult to negotiate in back mount without damaging the cave.
Giant Cave, one of the largest underwater rooms in the world (at 304 metres (1,000 ft.) across and nearly 914 metres (3,000 ft.) long), is truly a sight to behold. This cave dive is for experienced cave divers only and requires rebreather and sidemount gear. Conditions in the cave are highly variable.
All cave dives require advanced reservations. All divers are required to complete orientation dives to the satisfaction of their guide before they can dive the caves. Please contact Chip Petersen.
Great Blue Hole best dive ever!
We made our second trip to Caye Caulker, Belize and had a great time. Belize Diving Services took us to the Great Blue Hole in the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve. The dive shop provided the technical equipment we needed and the owner, Chip Petersen, came with us to photograph the caverns there. We also visited several reefs/walls and even got to go cave diving in two different caves. Great time, great trip, wonderful people and excellent restaurants and hotel (Iguana Reef Inn).
